Summary:Being less known than "The Phantom Carriage"(21), "Ingeborg Holm" can also be regarded as an important film by Victor Sjöström, considering its artistic quality and the realistic depiction of social problem of the time. It caused great debate in Sweden about social security, which led to changes in the poorhouse laws( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ingeborg_Holm). From artistic point of view, it is characterized by psychological realistic acting, skillful use of "depth of a shot"(especially the interior shooting) and masterful lighting. All of them make fixed shots with long duration interesting enough for watching.
